ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marcel Maeyer's work (° 1920) contains a number of periods. This without linearity, but with artistic continuity. He makes his debut in the early 1950s. From the 1960s, he had to divide his attention between his artistic position (Marcel Maeyer) and his position as professor of art history at Ghent University (prof. Marcel De Maeyer).
It was in the later period that he met fame with hyper-realistic paintings. In the 70s he works more and more on photos, which he converts to canvas. He pays attention to the evolution of the new media that opposes the renewal of coercion.
