New Film Festival To Screen Shorts From Around The World In One Of Belgium's Oldest Cities.

The Ghent International Short Film Festival will take place in March 2023 at different locations in one of Belgium's most beautiful and vibrant medieval Flemish cities, Ghent.

A call for entries has been launched on FilmFreeway this week: filmmakers can now submit their short films in all different genres via FilmFreeway: https://filmfreeway.com/GhentShortFilmFestival

It is a new festival, but comes well connected. The organization behind the festival already runs the world famous Viewpoint Documentary Film Festival, which originated in 1994, and Europe's most obscure film festival Obskuur (since 2020). Through its partnership with The Bigger Screen the new short film festival offers great networking opportunities with established film festivals such as the Boston Short Film Festival, Hong Kong Arthouse Film Festival, and Venice Film Week, to name a few.

Ghent International Short Film Festival recognizes the important role short films have in cinema, storytelling, and culture. The festival discovers, supports and develops new talent in filmmaking, providing a platform for emerging and established filmmakers from around the world. The Ghent International Short Film Festival is a new annual event that aims to screen up to 100 short films.

The festival is open to all genres, including narrative, documentary, animated, underground, experimental films and music videos. It will also organise a 90 minute special 'Kids Proof' screening, for which it searches for innovative films that are suitable for kids between 8 and 12 years old.

Connecting industry and audiences, the festival will celebrate the creativity, diversity and impact of short film. There will be unmissable evening screenings where audiences can watch the best new short films from upcoming talent, and opportunities to network with the industry. So whether you are a filmmaker looking to launch or develop your career, an industry professional wanting to stay ahead of the game or a film lover wanting to soak up the festival atmosphere by watching great films, the Ghent International Short Film Festival is the place to be.

Ghent International Short Film Festival is an official festival partner of The Producer's Night Los Angeles (www.producersnight.com), an event that gives independent filmmakers an opportunity to have their work screened for film industry professionals in West Hollywood every year.

Ghent International Short Film Festival is a proud partner of The Bigger Screen (www.thebiggerscreen.org), an organization that aims to make film as an art form more accessible and more inclusive. The festival will support their different programs on both sides of the screen: behind the screen, encouraging and supporting filmmakers in their quest to spread their work through grants and opportunity, as well as in front of the screen, by welcoming audiences to enjoy this art form, no matter what their social or financial status is.

Last but not least, Ghent International Short Film Festival will be a 'Climate Neutral Film Event', powered by Tree Plan (www.treeplan.org).
